Field Service Representative - Indonesia

This position serves as a company technical and administrative representative, and deals with customer service assignments on Solar gas turbine driven compressor, generator, and mechanical drive packages. These field (customer sites) assignments include installation and commissioning of new and refurbished turbomachinery packages, major component removal and installation, package system upgrades, control systems diagnostics, mechanical systems diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. Work is normally performed according to specific, detailed instructions with latitude to act independently increasing with the individual’s professional development. Ensure major interventions are planned and executed on schedule and within budget. Must ensure that all activities are carried out within company policy, manufacturers’ recommendations, and in a safe manner.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Control Engineering with minimum 5 years of offshore working experience in one or more of the following areas :
- Installation, Commissioning & Maintenance of Rotating Equipment (i.e. Gas Turbines)
- Power generation/electrical distribution
- Programmable logic controllers (PLC)

General Requirements :
- More than 70% traveling is required mostly within the Asia Pacific Region
- Resourceful and able to work independently
- Hands-on work using hand tools and specialized equipment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A high level of physical energy
- Basic computer skills required

Working Environment:

We are currently recruiting Fleet Managers for our Indonesia or China district respectively.
This position is particularly suited to those who wish to develop their careers from that of a technical supervisor in the field to contract management role in a district office.

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining aftermarket long-term agreement relationships between Solar and customers. Depending on the scope, these agreements can include parts, overhauls, maintenance and technical support.

Nature and Scope
The Fleet Manager is the focal point for all technical and commercial activity between the customer and Solar. He works within district support structure to provide the best possible support to the customer while at the same time maximizing the business opportunities for Solar that this close customer relationship provides.

The Fleet Manager implements machinery management solutions and processes utilizing Solar InSight System to achieve contract objectives and deliver measurable added value. Often working with large fleets of Solar turbo-machinery, a crucial responsibility is the technical management of the turbines to include regular equipment assessments, failure analysis, fault assessment and maintenance recommendations. The Fleet Manager will provide leadership and direction to technical staff including customer and Solar technicians on troubleshooting and maintenance activities.

The Fleet Manager is also responsible for managing key commercial aspects of the customer relationship. Working very closely with the customer provides an opportunity for the Fleet Manager to identify performance or equipment issues that could be solved with upgrades, retrofits or repairs. Not only will this provide a solution for the customer, it also provides the opportunity to generate additional revenue for Solar. For this reason, the Fleet Manager is the primary contact for a customer and must work closely with the local District Service Manager and the Account Manager in the development of the sales opportunities and thereafter with other groups at the implementation phase.

The position is Indonesia based, is likely to require extensive periods working from the customer office and frequent trips to equipment sites will be necessary. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for arranging and leading all meetings with the customer relating to Performance Reviews, Contract Reviews, planning and failure investigations.

The ability to work well in a team environment is critical and the Fleet Manager must have a detailed knowledge of Solar Turbines products and organization, both locally and internationally, to take full advantage of the opportunities to improve operational and business efficiency.


Be the Solar single focal point for the customer
Facilitate all transaction between Solar and the customer by identifying the people within both organizations that are key to implementing change and improvements.
Evaluate various strategies and recommend synergies
Promote commonality across assets

Improve maintenance effectiveness
Develop and review maintenance and inspection programs on all assets
Provide input on maintenance techniques and practices
Use expertise to prevent breakdowns
Provide training of maintenance personnel

Review and optimization of spare parts stocking
Reduce parts stocked through consolidation between assets
Eliminate redundant purchases
Provide recommendations on criticality, levels and optimum location of parts to support maintenance plans

Coordinate projects
Coordinate and execute minor upgrade/retrofit/repair projects
Liaise with customer project teams and Solar technical support groups to achieve project objectives

Improve operational efficiency
Be on hand to provide remote support for troubleshooting and direction.
Plan all maintenance interventions in a way that minimizes down time and increases operational efficiency.
Be on hand to respond quickly to requests for troubleshooting support.
Ensure failure analysis is performed, reports submitted and corrective actions implemented

Manager long-term service agreement
Ensure all invoicing is complete and accurate.
Be the focal point for contract escalation and renewals and ensure that discussion are arranged and proposals are submitted well ahead of the expiry or escalation date.
Issue timely monthly reports, tracking the contract KPI’s, equipment performance and all work performed through the agreement.
Work closely with District Service Manager to maintain and enhance customer relationship
Implement and apply all contract management tools in support of contract objectives


The Fleet Manager will have demonstrated solid management, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively under pressure, a high energy level and sense of urgency is also essential.

The Fleet Manager will possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical discipline coupled with commercial experiences, requiring a minimum 5 years of experience in the oil and gas market.
